How do I set up Users?
Question
How do I set up Users in OneView?
Solution
For new installations, there is a 4 step process for adding users:
Step 1: Using the Manage Groups functionality, create Groups for users that will have the same access to reports i.e. Report Users. Users are not required to be members of groups.
Step 2: Using the Manage Users function, add individuals and assign them to Groups if applicable. Note: OneView uses Active Directory (network) credentials and the User Name must be an EXACT match to the Active Directory User Name.
Step 3: Assign access to Sites (if a multi-site facility), Packages i.e. MU 2011 Edition, MU 2014 Edition etc., and Role using the Manage Sites feature. The Site will pre-populate if only 1 site exists. OneView is pre-configured with 2 roles: User and Package Administrator. See more at Site Package Roles.
Step 4: Within the appropriate Package i.e. Hospital Quality, permissions must be assigned using the Report Access icon. The report tree will be exposed in the right pane. Permissions can be granted at the folder or item level by User of Group. The easiest set up is to assign permissions by Group at the folder level and access will cascade through the items in the folder. However, Groups or individual users can be assigned at the item level. Keep in mind that if a User is a member of a Group, they will inherit the Group permissions.
For established installations of OneView, there is a simplified process:
Step 1: Using the Manage Users function, add individuals and assign them to Groups if applicable. Note: OneView uses Active Directory (network) credentials and the User Name must be an EXACT match to the Active Directory User Name.
Step 2: Assign access to Sites (if a multi-site facility), Packages i.e. Hospital Quality, Physician Quality, etc., and Role using the Manage Sites feature. The Site will pre-populate if only 1 site exists. OneView is pre-configured with 2 roles: User and Package Administrator. See more at Site Package Roles.
Step 3: If the User is assigned to a Group, they will inherit the Report Access permissions. If not, permissions will need to be granted using the Report Access function within the Package i.e. MU 2014 Edition.
